"I would have then thousand of his babies"
Don’t eat before you go to bed or you come up with this kind of stuff, and I’m supposed to be installing a garage door opener. Oh well
I think it's pretty clear that the recent fall in the price of oil on the world market has to do with the fact the the Bush Administration opened talks with the Iranians. This caused a softening in tensions in that part of the world. And to anyone who knows how the price of oil works, the softening of tensions in a major oil producing nation is a core issue among speculators.
I'm not sure the Obama Drop is the best phrase to use for this. But I do think it would be wise to come up with a phrase. And maybe we could use that phrase even more once (and if) the price of oil dropping gets seen at the gas pump. Wouldn't it be great if the MSM starting picking up on that phrase too?
Are there any Madison Ave types out there that could come up with a phrase for this?
Quite a week for Obama. He precipitates one of the biggest drops in the price of oil in history, and he shows the world a wise opening to end the American presence in Iraq, that gets the support of the leader of Iraq.
Wow!
A question has come across my inbox today, and as I am wont to do I began to answer my email friend (who I’ve known, by the way, since we both posted on the John Edwards blog). More or less 100 words into the reply it occurred to me that this was a question best answered in front of a larger audience.
The question? My friend is having trouble committing to Obama.
Why? I’m paraphrasing, but it would be fair to say that the sudden emergence of Obama’s "handlers" was a factor...and although it’s not in the note, I suspect the fact that Obama has "tacked to the center" recently on various issues is part of the problem as well.
It’s a great question...and in an effort to provide a great answer I’m going to offer a few words of my own—and then I thought we might reach back a bit into history and see if there might be something we can learn.
Having come to the metaphorical tee and taken the first shot, let’s head down the fairway and see where that ball might be...and where we can get it to go.
Read this and tell me who is driving the foreign policy agenda.
I slipped into the Americans for Prosperity convention Friday night and live-blogged Robert Novak's speech.

McCain predicts 'spectacular' terror attempts in Iraq
(CNN) — John McCain said Friday he expects the presidential election this fall will increase the occurrence of "spectacular" terror attempts in Iraq.
"I predict that they will make an attempt as we get in to the election season to make more of these spectacular kinds of attacks which they're still capable of doing," he said. "The suicide bombers, et cetera, would not surprise me and we've already found out that they're going to try and step up their attacks and try and do things in a more spectacular fashion so that they can erode the support of the Maliki government."
Disclaimer: I will support Obama no matter who he picks as his VP. My second choice is Jack Reed
CNN titled their headline "McCain camp releases its first contrast ad of the general".
Alternate title: McCain pulls a Plame on Obama's plane

For the record... Webbies will be well aware that 'to flame' means to post inflammatory remarks about a person. From this day forth, webbies should be aware of the following:
plame
\ˈplām\
Function: verb
Definition: to publicly disclose information regarding a political opponent with the motive of endangering the opponents well-being while simultaneously hindering his/her ability to expose mistakes or manipulation (see Iraq war). Disclosure is often presented as an 'innocent' off the cuff remark and/or through plausibly deniable sources that can always be pardoned.
Etymology: Early Netroots to flame Middle Netroots to politically flame
Date: Ancient cavemen and more recently the GOP.
Well, some good news. If you make the mistake of going to the wrong website, you actually get something worth looking at. Figured there should be something good about McCain out there, even if it isn't our illustrious Senator (yes, unfortunately, I'm stuck with both McCain and Kyl -- maybe AZ will get lucky and they'll both become obsolete after this year).
I don’t believe in clairvoyance. In fact, I don’t believe in superstition of any kind. But I think I can see something coming. I think I can see the grand strategy of the McCain campaign regarding foreign policy. Listening closely (or maybe not even that closely) I can observe a pattern emerging. Let me lay out what I think the next couple months of McCain tactics are going to look like after the median.
Sean Tevis Kicks Ass, and You Win!
Sean Tevis is an Information Architect and fellow netroots geek who decided to run against Arlen Siegfreid, the current State Representative.
You supported Sean Tevis, and you won.
As many are aware Senator Obama raised $52 million in June. While that is the number being used in the media and in some of the diaries/stories on this site, actually the most important number to watch is Senator Obama's cash on hand. Why you may ask, I well explain below.
This isn't going to be a some intospective, analytical diary, it's going to be about restoring our pride and our standing (the wife and kids are in bed - a few glasses of vino and I'm ready to roll here). I ask us not to do this only for others but ourselves as well.
I am asking everyone to give what they can, promote when they can and to VOTE for Barack Obama.
I wrote this last night...but wanted to share it with my Kosacks again today, i think its a story that needs to be told......My best friends little girl Gracie Lynn Pinder died of SUID on June 21st, 2008 at Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles. The mother and father are very sweet, loving friends of mine, and they were ardent Hillary supporters while i supported Obama during the primary. They constantly told me..to paraphrase 'i don't know what hes about...,' 'i Don't know if i can trust him, etc....' I tried my best for all those months to convince them that the man i saw on booktv 4 years ago was the man that cared best for them and there future...
Gracie Lynn was born on March 2nd 2008, at that time, the parents obviously turned to the task of raising their beautiful newborn daughter. On June 20th Gracie Lynn stopped breathing.
For weeks now, Senator McSame & Co. have taken every opportunity to upbraid Senator Obama for his not having been to Iraq in over two years and of never having been to Afghanistan. The official propaganda arm of the Republican party, aka Fox News, even went so far as to have a count clock in frame showing how long it had been.
Needless to say, they saw the ploy as a win-win situation. If Obama didn't go they could say: "How can he speak authoritatively on Iraq when he hasn't even been there since the surge began? How can he put forth a plan for troop withdrawal when he hasn't spoken with the commanders on the ground?"
And the flip side was if he did go they could say: "See, Senator McCain shamed him into going which only proves he doesn't have the chops to be Commander-in-Chief." They really thought they had Obama by the short and curlies

OUTSIDE OF WACO, TEXAS - I'm filing this weekly column dispatch at a rest stop outside of Waco, Texas on my way to the Netroots Nation conference. On the drive from Dallas, I've been listening to talk radio and obsessing over the concept of "the center."
