why we must impeach

Why we need to impeach G.W. Bush and his infestation. Just to stop his power to Pardon
Article. II.
Section. 2.
The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment. And If they bring impeachment that should stop all executive privileges you want proof that Republican give out pardons to save other crooked Republicans go to Wikipedia, address below

Executive Privilege, Why Aren't They Hollering "Cover-up?"
Fri Jul 18, 2008 at 12:15:35 PM PDT
Judiciary Chairman John Conyers is set to begin "preliminary hearings" on Dennis Kucninch's article of impeachment on Thursday, July 25, according to impeachment activists working the Hill. Conyers is tying himself in knots trying to avoid using the word "impeachment," but that's what Kucinich's article is: an article of impeachment against George Bush, tightly focused on claims that Saddam possessed WMD and that he had a connection to 9/11, in the run-up to the invasion of Iraq.
The congressional game is to attempt to appease the impeachment movement with some sort of action while keeping it as quiet as possible, lest the general electorate catch wind that, coming to life creaking and groaning, the sinews of democracy are actually working and might yet shift into high gear with a push. Once you give people hope, all kinds of nasty things start to happen, in congress's view. People who have never called their congressman start calling. People who have checked-out in disgust start reading the paper.
Congress has come this far only by being manhandled by Americans of all political stripes. The crucial break of 9 Republicans,..

Update: HJC Republican Walter Jones (R-NC) voted with Kucinich on the winning side. That's courage.
We just ran into Jerry Nadler (D-NY) in the Rayburn Building and had a talk with him about impeachment. Although very smart, well-meaning, and gracious, he was still stuck in the tactical aspects of the game, rather than realizing that he and his colleagues were, like it or not, now making history. Either very good history or very bad. If hearings do not commence, there will never be another administration which has committed so many outrages upon the American people and the world, so openly, with so little punishment. It will set a standard for the converse of the saying about RAF pilots in WWII, never has so much been owed to so few by so many. But this time its: Never have so few gotten away with so much, so easily.
It will eclipse anything Nixon did, Herbert Hoover, James Buchanan and 10 other presidents by miles. When Bush is out, American sons and daughters will still be dying in Iraq, perhaps until few remember how we even got there, with only a Cheshire smirk hanging in the air as a reminder..
Rep. Nadler: Bush would be Impeached in a "just system"
Tue Jul 15, 2008 at 12:23:27 PM PDT
Appearing earlier today on C-Span, Representative Jerrold Nadler stated that in a "just system" that was not politically charged we would have already impeached President George W Bush for war crimes.
Nadler has overseen many hearings on the administration's torture policies and has concluded that the administration acted unlawfully and committed "impeachable offenses". While this may not come as a hugely controversial finding to the KOS community, it is no doubt interesting to hear a U.S. Representative not named Dennis Kucinich making this argument on a platform like C-Span.
Watch the clip below and weigh in with your own feelings:
Rep. Nadler, what are you waiting for?

Let’s look at some the events of the last few days, to see what they have in common:
- Dennis Kucinich introduced a single new article of impeachment against the president, for his and his administration’s lying us into a disastrous and illegal war;
- Karl Rove not only failed to appear before the HJC on Thursday after being subpoenaed, but he skipped the country without notifying Congress(!);
- Nancy Pelosi, in her signature style (vague, ambiguous, and vague again), made a statement which seemed to leave the door open for impeachment hearings hearings (back on the table?);
- I, Adam Sullivan, filed well in excess of the number of required petition signatures to gain ballot access for the Democratic primary here in NYC, where...

I will believe this when I see it...but Nancy Pelosi is being reported, by Politico, Pelosi, as to have said there may be hearings...
I haven't seen this diaried and just did a search. I will delete if a duplicate.

Man Decapitates Hitler Wax Statue
Sat Jul 05, 2008 at 10:56:03 AM PDT
If there were ever a crime that you could commit with impunity in Germany, this is it:
A man tore the head from a controversial waxwork figure of Adolf Hitler on the opening day of Berlin's Madame Tussauds museum on Saturday, police said.
...
The man tore off the head in protest at the exhibit, the spokesman added. The police were alerted and arrested the man, who did not resist. He was being investigated for assault and damaging property.
Why Sullivan for Congress in NYC?
Tue Jul 01, 2008 at 08:53:14 PM PDT
My name is Adam Sullivan. Until recently, I was just another citizen of New York’s 8th Congressional District. Now I am running for Congress as a challenger to Jerrold Nadler for nomination in CD8 by the Democratic Party. And I need your help.
You may legitimately ask why I would challenge Congressman Nadler, a representative with a long liberal voting record. While this is true, Nadler has failed us all where it matters most.
The issue—Impeachment
Some months ago, I joined a pro-impeachment group with the intent of encouraging my congressman to co-sponsor the Articles of Impeachment introduced in the House by Dennis Kucinich of Ohio.
Louisiana Recall Petition dies, a few thoughts
Mon Jun 30, 2008 at 03:36:17 PM PDT
Update: The recall petition has been withdrawn, making my comments on it irrelevant.
Moving on... bad news, scary news and just plain disturbing news filled the world where truth exists today. I estimated the bad news to be at near record levels. I had to say something about it. I find words help keep the darkness from swallowing me.
Jeralyn over at Talk Left broke the news (at least for me) that another torture obtained confession has led to another death penalty case against a Guantanamo detainee. I will keep Abd Al-Rahim Al-Nashiri in my thoughts, not because I think he is innocent but because nobody deserves to be tortured. For the record, I don't need documents, hearings or proof to know that he was, probably horrifically. Torture is all the rage with the Bush administration. Would anyone else out there be absolutely unsurprised if you discovered Dick Cheney made "jokes" about wishing they could do the same thing to Democrats?
I Have Contempt for Barack Obama (And Anyone Else Not Vocal About Impeachment), G-ddammit.
Wed Jun 25, 2008 at 09:13:53 PM PDT
FACT: GEORGE W. BUSH AND CABINET ARE GUILTY OF WAR CRIMES.
PROOF: VINCENT BUGLIOSI'S The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder and Elizabeth de la Vega’s United States v George Bush et al and the 35 Articles of Impeachment introduced by the honorable Dennis Kucinich.
I won't try to emulate some of the eloquent rage and contempt expressed on many other diaries about the moral and pragmatic grounds for impeachment. I just want to reiterate that while Bush and Cheney are in the WH there's a high probability that there will be a major attack on Iran. For the sake of self preservation I would think that Barack would want to use those masterful powers of unification of his to unite Congress behind an impeachment.
Not trying is tantamount to capitulating to the unspeakable.
UPDATE: Seriously, if you vote no in the poll please tell HOW you can imagine MLK being any less vocal than Kucinich? Do you not agree with Dennis? If not, WTF, dude?!

General Taguba "War Crimes," Impeachment Not Enough?
Fri Jun 20, 2008 at 10:34:23 AM PDT
In my efforts to call George Bush and Dick Cheney to account one split I have noticed is the split between those favoring impeachment and those who respond: "Forget that, war criminals. The Hague." The surprise is, you might expect the latter to emanate from a correspondingly farther "left" side of the "looney left," as both Democrats and Republicans are fond of calling anyone longing for the rule of law. But it doesn't. This is what you hear from the right side of the political spectrum now peeling off from Bush. The blunt manner of speaking in some parts of the country prevents me from reporting all that I hear, say, from small towns in West Texas. The remarks might be construed, incorrectly, as threats against the president.
Talk about impeachment in these parts and half the time you'll draw a blank stare. Say "war crimes" and some heads start nodding. These are families who have made the lion's share of the sacrifices in the wars of George Bush. You can't travel long out here before you find yourself on a "hero flight," which means the plane you are on is bringing another mama's boy back home to her in a box...

Do Your Union Dues Finance Anti-Impeachment Democrats?
Mon Jun 16, 2008 at 05:38:34 PM PDT
Note: the diarist acknowledges that this post is replete with factual errors on how union PACS work. But the comments are instructive, so I'll leave it up for now.
Rank-and-file Democrats have a few more levers to pull to help the Bush-Cheney house of cards go tumbling down, and one that hasn't been worked nearly enough is questioning why, if you are in a union, your dues should be a major source of support Democrats who absolutely refuse to do their constitutional duty to impeach Cheney and Bush. This is your money, and while there isn't much you can do about a Conyers if you are in his district except yell and maybe run against him, you sure as hell don't have to sit still while the union PAC gives him your money.
Here is a list of major union contributors to the hold-outs in Judiciary on impeachment. Links to the union websites are here, to make it easy to shoot an email to the PAC committee asking for a meeting on the PAC's criteria for contributions, which, as your money, you have a say in. Or if you march with labor on the picket line as a matter of principle, bring up the idea to the brothers and sisters of threatening to withhold contributions. Candidates are adopted by a vote of the PAC committee, and these are your co-workers.
Next Impeachment Steps; an Iraq Story
Thu Jun 12, 2008 at 12:33:52 PM PDT
The big news is for the first time print, brick-and-mortar newspapers are reporting on impeachment action in the House, unlike last Nov. 6th when Kucinich's resolution to impeach Cheney went down like a tree in the forest with not even a squirrel around to hear it. So far the Baltimore Sun, the LA times, the Kansas City Star, the Houston Chronicle, and today even the Boston Globe (a New Your Times company paper) saw fit to report House action on one of the most important events that can happen in a democracy. Any others? This is how the dam breaks. Poeple who are not pale creatures of the Internet (like us) start to have hope, and pick up the phone.
Patience on impeachment, folks, now both Bush and Cheney have their asses lined up in Judiciary Committee, and Scott McClellan is yet to testify. Keep up the drumbeat. I favor asking our friends in labor why they keep donating to the campaigns of these scoundrels in the "Democratic" party. Hoyer gets money from Carpenters & Joiners Union, International Assn of Fire Fighters, Laborers Union, and Service Employees International.
Craig’s List Removes Impeachment Concert Ad
Thu Jun 12, 2008 at 11:14:45 AM PDT
RepublicansForImpeachment.com and Northeast Impeachment Coalition are putting together an impeachment fund-raiser in Massachusetts, supported by many fine, young, and enthusiastic bands willing to play free! This is a fledgling effort by the two not-for-profit impeach groups. A professional music producer, UFC, has magnanimously stepped forward to assist in the production of the benefit Concert. Again, neither group has teamed up for an Impeachment Benefit Concert in the past. The following is the response a call for bands got on Craig’s list:
